Sydney town. It’s weird that we toured this vibrant city on the 6th day. Weird but smart! We wanted to avoid the crowd so it’s much better to visit the attractions on a weekday.
1st stop: SEA Life Sydney Aquarium. I haven’t been to S.E.A. Aquarium in Resorts World Sentosa so I couldn’t compare which was better.
It’s definitely bigger than the Underwater World Singapore though. Hubby and I got excited when we spotted Nemos and Dorys. Closer to the exit, there’s a dim area where they provide A4-sized printed fish for the kids to colour. Once done, the kids can hand over to the staff and they will scan it. The images will then appear on the wall as if the fish are swimming in the sea.
They also displayed some starfish and sea cucumbers for everyone to touch. The kids saw mermaid dolls at the souvenirs shop and begged us to buy it. It took a while for us to say yes because they already had so many dolls and plushes at home. While we’re at it, I saw a Barbie door sign “Sofia’s Room” and brought it to the cashier as well.
2nd stop: Sydney Tower Eye. We’re supposed to go next door to Madame Tussauds but because the halal restaurant was near the Sydney Tower Eye, we will come back later. We had our lunch at Ipoh on York. I ordered 3 plates of Hainanese Chicken Rice for hubby, the kids and myself. The foods were very tasty and the servings were humongous. They were also generous with the chicken. I managed to finish the whole plate though. 🙂 Alright now let’s head to the Sydney Tower Eye. One thing about Sydney Tower Eye was, I would never expect it to be that tall. Unlike Eiffel Tower, the lift was fully covered so it’s like taking a lift in any of the high-rise building in Singapore but once I reached the top, I felt giddy after I got out of the lift. Maybe it’s the spherical shape of the observation deck or maybe it’s the height.
Anyway, we didn’t really get to take many nice pictures because it’s too sunny so the subjects were all dark. In my opinion, you can give this a miss unless you want to go for the Skywalk. Fortunately we got the tickets from Groupon at a much cheaper rate than their online rate. Always lookout for great deals from Groupon especially on tours or entrance tickets.
3rd stop: Madame Tussauds. The only Madame Tussauds I’ve been was in London, which I went twice. Since Busu and Mak busu haven’t been, I didn’t mind going again. Madame Tussauds Sydney was not as big as London and there were not many A-list celebrities too.
You will love it if you are a fan of Taylor Swift because she looked so real! Other than that, you can give it a miss.
In my opinion, if you like shopping in Orchard Road, then you will love Sydney. Lots of designer boutiques but we didn’t go into a single one of them. I don’t think it will be cheaper than Singapore. You might as well save the money and to go Europe instead.
